Officer Jim Chee of the Navajo Tribal Police did not understand why white people stole when they already had money. Investigating a burglary, he stopped near the Chuska Mountains to admire the dawn, loosening a pinch of pollen so that he might walk again in beauty—hozro in his language.
My thoughts turn to Tony Hillerman’s character as I explore the west coast of Florida, this intersection of nature and money, asphalt and surf. I take my camera whenever I can to capture the beauty of the land and the people who inhabit it.
I thought I’d share a little of that with you.
So take a breath. Take a photo. Walk in beauty. It’s here if you look.

Stunningly beautiful.
Thank you, Ellen.
